NEW CREATION.
The class of New Creation is about creating something new from two or more existing images/styles. Since everything in nature derives from other existing things. The idea for this class came from Darwin's Evolution Theory with Random Mutation and Natural Selection.(waste basket)

This sample is not random though, it is done with the following process:

If I have the picture above, with the beautiful movie-star, and I decide that I want to create something with it. Then I first have to analyze it, or break it down to a few words. In this case I wrote:

Beautiful, Flattering, Elegant, Sophisti-cated, Feminine.		 Then I need something to mix it with, and for the sake of drama I wrote words that are opposite

Ugly, Unflattering, Cartoony, Vulgar, Masculine.

And the first thing I came to think of was Popeye. So I collected some pictures of him.

Then I put the two pictures together in Photoshop. The result on the right.

Is this a new style? I don't know, but I have at least not seen this before. If I would make a collection of ten beauty-queens that turned into ugly cartoon characters, It would perhaps become something interesting. (Basil Wolverton did something similar in the 60's.)
This is the first try-out I did and this was based on Random Mutation. No connection what so ever between two images.

The only thing was the fascination of the mystical light from the photo in the middle, and a curiosity what it would happen if I rendered the simple cartoon character with that light/feeling.

To Juxtapose things is the "easy" way to create something interesting. In this case the "friction" comes from the realistic and mystical light along with the happy and "safe" cartoon character.
Because I had the pictogram as the base for the new creation then I was thinking about different ways to Inform.

And because I have the LSD/drug related design in the mix, then, in this experiment, I chose to inform against drugs.

So the Shapes is saying Inform and the Color Pattern is saying drugs. Mixed messages in the same picture. The combination of two images.

Needless to say, the message would be completely different if the Psychedelic reference would be a kitsch-painting etc.

These first three tests is only the beginning of my exploration of mixing styles together, and taking notes on the result.

I will refine, develope and publish coming student-work and other developments as they drop in.

In this case I started with the pictogram on top. Again I wrote a list of words I could assciate with it:

Informative, Graphic, Serious, No emotion, Organized.

Once again I wrote a list of opposite words:

Chaotic, Decorative, Rebellious, Drugs, Provocative.
So I looked after psychedelic art and found this picture.
