This image was made in 1999-2000. Inbetween my move to New York. I had worked on a personal project in Stockholm about the Moon and Mars having some dialog in space.
I made recordings with the very talented Swedish actor Johan Rabaeus. And during the recordings in Sundbyberg we all had all huge problems to keep ourfocus because we laughed until we cried.
And I just remembered that I also bought recordings from a english voice over actor in London. But the project finally faded away because of technical problems with the NURBS! I was not technically savvy to pull it off.
That is the big downside with 3D I think. It needs quite an operation and very few can make it all. I am not one of them....
I started to experiment with the textures and soon enough I discovered the slightly mysterious effect with this concept. And it turned out to be good enough for a picture at least.
This picture won the "Pic of the Month" at Softimage.com in 2002(I think) and I also made it into the Society of Illustrators Annual Book #44.
